Entity Texture Features brings the OptiFine texture toolkit to the mobs, animals and players of Minecraft. Resource packs can hand out different textures to individual entities at random, define fully custom textures for specific ones, and mark parts of a texture as emissive so they glow.
Player skins get the same treatment. A skin can blink, carry emissive areas and use the extra properties the format allows, which makes a familiar character look noticeably more alive. There is also a simple blinking format for mobs, so eyes and lights can animate without touching a model file.
Existing OptiFine random, custom and emissive entity packs load exactly as they are, and the mod is designed to sit alongside Sodium, Entity Model Features and shader loaders such as Iris Shaders, with shader results varying from pack to pack. Modded entities are covered too, as long as they render through vanilla code.
Every option is adjustable in game from the mod list or the resource pack screen, and the config file is there for anyone who prefers editing values directly.
