Chiseled bookshelves are a tidy way to store books, but vanilla Minecraft gives no hint about which book is sitting in which slot. Bookshelf Inspector fixes that by showing the type and the title of the book you are looking at, turning a wall of shelves into a readable library instead of a guessing game.
Enchanted books, written books and ordinary books are all recognised, and the same display can be extended to lecterns so the book resting on one is labelled too. Shelf blocks are covered as well, which keeps the behaviour consistent everywhere a book can be stored.
Tuning the mod is straightforward. Text scale can be set anywhere between 0 and 20, lectern support has its own switch, and everything can be changed from an in-game settings screen through Cloth Config and Mod Menu or by editing the config file directly. In multiplayer only the server needs it installed, so players can still join without the mod, which makes it a painless addition to an existing 1.21.1 Fabric world.
