The Nether is hot, loud and mostly hostile, but Gardens of the Dead gives it somewhere genuinely eerie to wander into. The mod adds new spooky biomes to the Minecraft Nether, so the dimension gets stretches of growth that feel closer to a haunted forest than to a wasteland.
Two of those biomes are in the mod so far: the Soulblight Forest, and the Whistling Woods. Alongside them come new plants and a set of new decorative blocks, so the theme can be carried back to your own base. More biomes are planned for later versions, possibly with new mobs as well.
The project started as an entry for Spooky Jam 2022 and has kept that focus, putting the work into scenery rather than new systems: biomes, plants and blocks. The Forge build targets Minecraft 1.21.1.
