Old Minecraft worlds felt different, and Moderner Beta exists to bring that terrain back to a current version of the game. Generation from Classic 0.30 through Beta 1.7.3 is covered, and on top of that come generators that reach from Beta 1.8 through to Release 1.17.1, complete with the accurate biome distribution those versions were known for.
Alongside the main run of versions there are extra generators for particularly notable early builds, including Infdev 20100325, Classic 0.0.14a_08 and Beta 1.1. Noise caves and surface rules have been re-introduced as well, so the underground and the ground layers behave the way the era you picked expects rather than defaulting to modern behaviour.
Customisation is where the mod goes furthest. A graphical settings menu handles the straightforward options, while terrain shape and biome distribution can be reshaped in detail, and the biome fractal layer pipeline used by the Beta 1.8 and later generators is extremely customisable. Configuration is handled in a modular way, which also gives add-ons far more control over how a world is built.
For the full effect the mod suggests pairing a nostalgic world with a period-appropriate resource pack: a programmer-art style pack brings newer content in line with the old visuals, while thicker fog sells the early-release or beta look. The build offered here runs on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
