Water in Minecraft is mostly empty space to cross, and More Ships fills it with something to steer toward. Rafts, small ships and big ships spawn out on the water, so a long swim or a trip along the coast turns up a vessel you can climb onto instead of nothing but a flat blue horizon.
Each of the three ship sizes comes in cold, warm and lukewarm variants, and every one of those exists again in three sail states: sails open, sails rolled up, or no sail on the mast at all. Between the sizes, the variants and the sail states there are plenty of different ships to run into.
Crews vary as much as the hulls do. A ship may spawn with villagers on board or a wandering trader, or it may be occupied by pillagers or vindicators waiting for whoever climbs aboard, and some ships spawn with no entities at all. Approaching an unfamiliar vessel is a small gamble: a quiet find, someone to trade with, or a fight you did not plan for.
