Features:
- Emerald Geodes generate at high elevations across the Overworld and are most abundant in mountain biomes
- Emerald buds grow inside calcite and smooth basalt shells and drop emeralds when harvested
- Quartz Geodes appear only in the Nether and are cased in tuff instead of calcite
- Quartz buds act as oscillators, pulsing like a redstone clock when powered and speeding up as the crystal grows
- Diamond Geodes generate flooded with deepslate coal ore and have no budding block, so diamonds cannot be grown
- Echo Geodes form in the Deep Dark from blackstone, sculk and Echo Blocks for renewable Echo Shards, and every echo crystal echoes whenever it makes a sound
- Lapis Lazuli Geodes are common in deserts and add Pyrite, which crafts into stairs, slabs and walls and can be bartered with Piglins
- Gypsum Roses grow on desert and badlands surfaces and drop Gypsum Shards for sand, composting and a decorative block set
- Crystal Locator crafted from four Gypsum Shards and two sticks makes nearby crystals of the tuned type glow and chime, covering Amethyst, Emerald, Quartz, Lapis Lazuli, Diamond and Echo
- Echo Locator is a late-game variant tuned to reveal ores hidden just inside cave and mineshaft walls
- Requires the Fabric API, or the Quilt Standard Library when playing on Quilt
- Fabric and Quilt support for Minecraft 1.20.x, made by TheDeathlyCow
More Geodes takes the amethyst geode idea from the Caves and Cliffs update and runs it across the rest of the game’s resources. Emerald Geodes lead the way: they form at high elevations right across the Overworld and cluster in mountain biomes, sit behind calcite and smooth basalt shells, and grow emerald buds that drop emeralds when harvested, giving an automatable route to emeralds instead of endless villager trading.
Quartz Geodes take the concept into the Nether, swapping calcite for tuff and giving their buds an oscillator property, so a powered bud pulses on and off like a redstone clock and ticks faster as the crystal matures. Diamond Geodes work more like buried goody boxes, generating flooded and lined with deepslate coal ore, with a single cluster type that yields one diamond scaled by fortune and no budding block to grow more. Echo Geodes fill the Deep Dark with layers of blackstone, sculk and Echo Blocks for a renewable source of Echo Shards, and every echo crystal echoes the sounds it makes.
Lapis Lazuli Geodes round out the set in deserts and at shallow depths elsewhere in the Overworld, replacing calcite with Pyrite that crafts into stairs, slabs and walls and can even be bartered with Piglins, while small lapis buds drop pyrite chunks of their own. On the surface, Gypsum Roses grow larger than other crystals in deserts and badlands and drop Gypsum Shards for sand, composting and a decorative block set.
Finding all of this is handled by two locator items. The Crystal Locator, made from four Gypsum Shards and two sticks, can be set to Amethyst, Emerald, Quartz, Lapis Lazuli, Diamond or Echo and briefly makes matching clusters and buds glow with a chime, with Spectrum’s geodes supported as well. The Echo Locator is its late-game sibling, tuned to the frequency of ores so it picks out the ones hiding just inside cave and mineshaft walls. Optional data pack add-ons can also disable emerald and quartz ore generation, or let budding amethyst, echo, emerald and quartz blocks drop themselves under silk touch.
