Entity Model Features adds OptiFine’s Custom Entity Model support to Minecraft, so CEM resource packs can reshape and re-animate creatures without OptiFine itself being present. That opens up packs that change how a mob is built, not just how it is painted.
It is aimed squarely at players who already run modern rendering and performance mods. Instead of forcing a choice between CEM packs and mods like Sodium, Continuity or Entity Texture Features, it lets both live in the same profile. Fresh Animations works with it.
Entity Texture Features is required alongside it and supplies the random model feature, the shared config screen and the ability for textures set inside models to vary the way they do in OptiFine. For animation heavy packs an entity culling mod is highly recommended, since it cuts down the entity rendering lag such packs can cause.
One thing to keep in mind: it will not run together with OptiFine or with the older CEM mod, so pick one approach and stick to it.
