Dark Waters makes ocean travel genuinely dangerous the moment the sky turns grey. The mod introduces a set of new mobs that spawn exclusively while a storm rages over the water, so a sea route you have sailed a hundred times in calm weather can turn hostile as soon as the rain starts.
Thunder is the only warning you get. When it rolls across the waves the creatures are already on their way, which turns every storm into a decision: push on toward your destination, or find land and wait it out. Long boat trips and shoreline builds feel completely different once bad weather can send something after you.
The mod started life as an entry for a 2021 spooky-themed modding jam, and it keeps that horror flavour in the creatures it adds. It runs on Fabric and follows a single current version of Minecraft, so the attention stays on atmosphere and on the encounters themselves.
