Deep Aether is an add-on for The Aether that gives the floating dimension the kind of treatment the Nether received in 1.16: more places to explore, more materials to chase and more reasons to stay up there. Five biomes join the dimension, from the Aerglow Forest and its blue variant to the Aerlavender Fields, the Yagroot Swamp and the Golden Heights, each with its own flora and new wood and ground blocks alongside them.
Progression is built around two new materials. Skyjade is dug out of Holystone and works as a mirror of Zanite: its ability is powerful on the first use and grows weaker as durability drains away. Stratus comes from Sterling Aerclouds that generate high in the Aether above Y = 200, which can be enchanted into Chromatic Aerclouds and crafted into ingots; a full Stratus set upgrades the classic high jump into slow falling and adds a dash ability.
The world around that gear is filled in with new life and new building material. Aerglow Fish and Aether Quails with several color variants join the dimension’s wildlife, while Clorite, Aseterite, Aether Mud, Aerglow Blocks and fresh Holystone variants widen the palette for builders. Poison can now be placed as a liquid and spawns naturally in the Yagroot Swamp, Aersmog clouds inflict Inebration when stepped on, Virulent Quicksand suffocates anyone who falls through it, and dungeon loot can yield the Spooky Ring, which increases damage dealt during the night.
