Lycanites Mobs is a large creature pack for Minecraft, adding well over 100 mobs that belong to particular biomes and dimensions rather than being scattered everywhere. The range is deliberately wide: Makas are peaceful and farmable, mammal-like reptiles carrying massive sails, while Grues are formed from shadow itself. Elementals turn up out of their surroundings, with Cinders spawning from large fires and Spriggans emerging from tall grass and crops, and the alpha variants are worth watching out for.
The creatures are not only there to fight. The mod comes with a beastiary next to its taming and summoning systems, and mounts such as the Warg can be tamed and bound to you with a Soulstone, so they can be summoned and dismissed at will and respawn after dying. A Summoning Staff or a Summoning Pedestal brings in a minion horde of your own, out in a fight or left behind to guard your base while you are elsewhere. Parts dropped by creatures feed the Equipment Forge, where they are assembled into powerful tools and weapons whose strange and wonderful appearance depends on which parts you put together.
There is plenty of structure around all of this. A randomised dungeon system fills the world with challenging floors that each end in a boss and pay out accordingly, and because the dungeons are configured in JSON files, existing ones can be reworked and entirely new ones added. Optional events can be switched on and then start at random configurable intervals, throwing waves of mobs at you, while giant bosses such as Rahovart, Asmodeus and Amalgalich are called in by building an altar and activating it with a Soul Key. Underneath sits a deeply customisable JSON spawner system that decides how every mob appears, vanilla creatures and mobs from other mods included.
