Cosy Critters & Creepy Crawlies is an atmosphere mod rather than a content one. Nothing new arrives to fight or to craft; instead the world picks up small animals that behave like background life. Birds flock together in the sky and settle onto blocks, preferring high places, and they scatter back into the air the moment something disturbs them, whether that is a vehicle rolling past, a wandering mob or a projectile flying by.
Lower down there are two smaller additions. Tiny spiders emerge from cobwebs and crawl along the walls, floors and ceilings around them, which turns any cobwebbed corner into something that actually moves. Moths are drawn to light, gathering around any light emitting block that has been left exposed to the sky, so a lantern left out on a night time path collects its own little cloud of them.
There is a hidden extra as well. The Hat Man, a sleep paralysis figure, is bundled in as an easter egg and stays switched off unless you go looking for it. The mod runs on the client alone and does not need to be installed on the server, and every single effect can be disabled or tuned on its own through the in game command or the mod list menu, so a world can happily take the birds and skip the spiders. Built for Fabric on Minecraft 1.21.1.
