ChocoCraft Plus brings chocobos to Minecraft as mounts, companions, beasts of burden and, if you are so inclined, food. Wild birds are found around the world and tamed by feeding them repeatedly until a neckband appears. Horses are easier to find and much friendlier the moment they are tamed, but chocobos have something horses do not: room to grow, and a well-raised bird will eventually leave any horse behind.
Food comes from Gysahl Garden bushes, which grow across the world and drop a mix of veggies, fruits, nuts and beans. Every chocobo carries stats such as running speed, max health and cooperation, and the right produce pushes those numbers up. A saddle makes the bird rideable, saddle bags add portable storage and pack bags turn it into a walking chest that trails behind you, though obedience depends on temperament: friendly birds accept any command, stolid ones refuse to wander and follow slowly, and stubborn ones only ever wander.
The Chocopedia is both manual and control panel. It can be crafted outright, or made cheaply by right-clicking a book and quill onto a chocobo, or a chocobo feather onto a bookshelf. Through it you read stats, rename a bird by hand or with a randomly generated name, and look up exactly how every vegetable, fruit, nut and bean affects growth and breeding. The book remembers the page you left off on, which matters when you are deciding what to feed next. Hurt chocobos recover by eating garden produce, or by standing on straw bedding placed near a water-filled cauldron.
Breeding uses nuts and beans, and the offspring inherits stats from both parents and from the nut they were fed, so some nuts are deliberately weak choices unless you are raising birds for the pot. Pair the right parents under the right conditions and colored specialty chocobos appear, each with a special ability such as Water Tread or Soft Fall, opening the path toward rarer breeds including the Royal Chocobo and the legendary Gold Chocobo. For players who want to ride immediately, some villages contain a chocobo stable whose fast, resilient and obedient bird only needs a saddle, although it belongs to the stablehand and can never have its stats raised or be bred.
