Tamed wolves in the base game have exactly one resting state. They sit, and then they keep on sitting, upright and alert, however long you leave them behind. Let Sleeping Dogs Lie gives them a proper rest instead: once a dog has been sitting for a set amount of time with no owner nearby, it settles onto the ground in a randomly chosen lying pose.
There are enough pose variations to produce around fifty different combinations, so a yard full of pets never looks copy-pasted. The moment their owner walks back within range, the dogs spring up excitedly into the familiar sitting position.
Almost everything is adjustable in the config: how long a dog waits before lying down, which poses are allowed, how close someone has to come before it gets up, who counts as close enough, and whether dogs that were already sitting spawn lying down when you load the world.
The mod is client-side and purely visual, so it changes nothing about how wolves actually behave. Because it replaces the vanilla wolf model, it is unlikely to work alongside mods that overhaul dogs. It targets Minecraft 1.21.1 on Fabric.
