Better Cave Dweller aims squarely at the monster everyone already dreads meeting underground and makes running into it considerably worse. The creature gets a scarier look than the version people know, its movement is carried by better animations, and the audio around it is rebuilt so the noise coming out of the dark is as unsettling as the thing making it.
Rather than starting from scratch, the mod pulls several existing cave dweller projects into one package: an enhanced cave noise mod, an evolved version of the creature and a resource pack that overhauls its sounds, all used with permission from the creators of those original projects. The result is a single install that upgrades appearance, animation and audio together instead of stacking three separate additions.
GeckoLib has to be present for the mod to run, and anyone playing with shaders also needs the Oculus and GeckoLib compatibility mod for the animations to work. The package targets Minecraft 1.20.x on Fabric and keeps the whole horror overhaul in one place.
