Scholar is a utility mod that rethinks how books work in Minecraft. The vanilla editing, viewing and signing screens are replaced with completely redesigned ones that show two pages side by side, making writing and reading feel much closer to handling a real book.
Formatting no longer means fighting with section symbols. Just select the text you want to change and a toolbar appears, ready to use with the mouse or keyboard shortcuts while still relying on the vanilla formatting system underneath. You can also edit books placed on a Lectern and set a custom author.
Text from writable and written books can be exported to a human-readable text file and loaded back later, with formatting kept by default or stripped if you prefer. Books can be dyed in any color, and that color shows on the item, in menus, on Lecterns and on Chiseled Bookshelves, which also display tooltips for the book you are looking at.
Books come alive in other ways too. Players get a reading animation when holding a book, and a writing animation with a feather when using a Book and Quill. Zombies, Husks and Skeletons have a 5% chance to spawn holding a book they occasionally read, with a 50% chance to drop it on death.
