Immersive Paintings drops the handful of fixed vanilla canvases in favour of art you make yourself. Drag an image into the game, snap an in-game screenshot, or pull a picture in from an online source, and the mod converts it into a properly blocky painting without any resource pack involved.
The creation menu handles the styling for you. Pixelate an image down to a fitting resolution, then apply post-effects and dithering until it sits naturally next to stone and wood. Frames come in several styles and a long list of materials, glowing paint is available as well, and any image with transparency can be sprayed onto a wall as graffiti instead of being framed. Canvases from Joy of Painting can be placed over a painting to show it off.
A selection screen gathers your own work alongside paintings from other players and any supplied through optional datapacks, with a default pack ready to hang straight away. Because these are real images rather than fixed textures, the mod leans on level of detail, caching and lazy streaming so the performance cost stays unnoticeable.
On a multiplayer world every picture has to be transferred and stored, so the config file gives server owners limits on what players can add plus bandwidth throttling, keeping a busy art gallery from eating into storage or connection quality.
