Better Tridents brings small but much needed improvements to the trident, and it starts with the two most awkward parts of owning one: getting hold of it and keeping it in working order. Each of the three elder guardians in an ocean monument now drops a trident fragment, and combining those three with a few prismarine shards finally gives the weapon a proper crafting recipe.
Durability is handled in the same spirit. A trident that is about to run out can be repaired in an anvil with prismarine shards, so a favourite weapon never has to be retired. Thrown tridents also return to the exact slot they were thrown from when you pick them up again, which keeps your hotbar layout intact in the middle of a fight.
Loyalty gets the biggest upgrade. A loyalty trident accidentally thrown into the void returns instead of being deleted from your world, and any loot or experience points dropped by the mobs it kills come flying back to you along with it. Impaling is reworked to behave as it does on Bedrock Edition, dealing its bonus damage to any mob in contact with water or rain rather than only selected aquatic types. The settings can be adjusted in-game from the mod list once Mod Menu is installed.
