Cluttered is a large decoration mod aimed squarely at builders. It adds hundreds of furniture pieces, decor items and building blocks, and every one of them is craftable and obtainable in survival, so nothing sits behind creative mode. A good part of the block list borrows from other games, with designs inspired by Overwatch, Animal Crossing, the Sims, Starbound and Terraria among others.
The furniture is more than scenery. Beds, chairs and storage blocks all work as you would expect, and a number of blocks carry extra hidden functionality on top of looking good. A hand drill item cycles a block through its variants, which is how the wallpapers and the marble and chalcedony sets are switched between styles, while the mod’s saplings are picked up from the Wandering Trader or found in village and dungeon chests.
The current generation of the mod is a full rewrite. Where earlier versions were put together with a visual mod maker, this one is properly coded from the ground up, every model has been updated or remade, and a set of paintings was contributed by guest artists.
Upgrading an existing world needs a little care. The rewrite changed the mod ID, so anything stored inside Cluttered blocks from an older version will disappear. Back the world up and empty those blocks before updating, and warn players first if you run a server. Most blocks and furniture are swapped over to their new versions automatically, and that behaviour can be turned off in the config as long as it is done before the world is loaded for the first time. This build runs on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1 at 5.15 MB.
