Fairy Lights brings decorative string lighting to Minecraft. Every strand hangs from a rope and can be built from six different light variants, from classic fairy lights and lanterns to incandescent light bulbs, and each of those comes in all sixteen dye colors. Because the pattern is decided when the strand is crafted, no two decorations have to look the same.
Strands are crafted by combining an iron ingot, string or a stick and a second iron ingot with any mix of lights, and the order you place those lights in becomes the pattern on the finished strand. The item icon only previews the first four colors, but a strand can carry up to eight lights in total. Adding glowstone dust to a light before crafting makes that light twinkle. Pennant buntings work in exactly the same way, using square and triangle pennants instead of bulbs.
Placed strands stay flexible. Right clicking the rope with string adds slack for a deeper droop, while a stick pulls it tighter, so the lighting can follow the shape of whatever you are decorating. The lights themselves toggle on and off with a right click, which makes it easy to switch a build between day and night moods, and the recipes are integrated with EMI and JEI.
