Satin Free Wakes brings moving water to life in Minecraft without pulling attention away from the vanilla look. Every entity travelling through water leaves a simulated wake behind it, boats push waves out from their oars, and falling into a lake throws up a splash. Water is also shot out to either side as you move, so crossing a river actually looks like something is passing through it.
The point of this build is performance. Newer releases of the original Wakes mod depend on the Satin API, which cripples frame rate; this fork takes version 0.2.2 – the last one released without that dependency – and updates it to 1.21. Depending on the rest of your mod list you can expect up to three times the frames of the newer original, which keeps water effects affordable on setups that would otherwise have to leave them off.
Configuration is optional but available. Debug and appearance settings are exposed through YetAnotherConfigLib and can be opened straight from the mods menu, so you can adjust how the effects look without editing files by hand. Iris shader support is included as well, so the wakes still work when a shader pack is loaded.
