Not Enough Pets rewrites how tamed animals look and sound. A cat keeps the skin it had before taming rather than being reassigned a random one, so an ocelot caught in the jungle stays an ocelot, while the remaining texture variations are found around villages. Alongside them come every cat skin backported from Java Edition 1.14, several custom designs and the gray tabby that the game never used.
Dogs and parrots get the same treatment. Parrots are backported from 1.12 to older Minecraft versions, additional dog and parrot skins are included, dog varieties appear as village strays and wolf varieties roam the wild. Tamed cats can wear dyeable collars, a black cat comes with every Swamp Hut, and mooshrooms occasionally appear with a brown mushroom texture.
Much of the mod is aimed at the small annoyances of keeping pets. You can thin out how often tamed animals make noise, widen or narrow the distance at which a follower teleports to you, disable following entirely, decide the fall height at which a parrot leaves your shoulder and pick exactly which mob sounds parrots mimic, including sounds from other mods. Java Edition 1.14 cat and ocelot audio is in place, and spawn eggs together with summon commands make it simple to bring in a specific breed.
