The world behind an open inventory can be far too distracting, and the blur effect Minecraft ships with is a plain, static one. Blur+ swaps it for a Gaussian blur shader that softens everything behind the interface and fades in as the screen opens, giving menus a sleeker look.
Almost every part of the effect can be tuned. The radius option decides how strong the blur is, so it can be lowered when performance matters or raised for a much heavier effect. Fade time is set in milliseconds, and the overlay itself is a gradient built from two ARGB hexadecimal colors, black at forty-five percent alpha by default.
Screens that do not necessarily cover the whole display can be left untouched through the exclusion list, which starts out holding only the chat. Everything lives in a plain config file, so the look of the menus can be reshaped without changing anything else about the game.
