Soft Imprints is a client-side mod that makes movement leave a mark. As players, mobs and other entities cross supported blocks, they press visible imprints into the surface, so a snowy hillside or a stretch of desert slowly fills with the tracks of everything that walked there.
Ready-made profiles cover snow, snow layers, sand and red sand out of the box, and an in-game config screen with a live preview lets you shape the look while the world is running. Imprints can be taken from a simple bounding box or, optionally, captured from the entity model itself for shapes that follow the creature far more closely.
The configuration goes surprisingly deep. Check tick rate, imprint appearance, rendering style, cache size and performance limits are all adjustable, and you can decide exactly which entities are allowed to leave imprints and which blocks accept them, with individual profile and integration toggles for finer control. Add-on resource packs carry the effect over to Faithful 32x, Faithful 64x and Undergarden textures.
Everything runs on the client, which keeps Soft Imprints small at 0.58 MB and easy to add to a world you already play. The Forge build targets Minecraft 1.21.1, and the Fabric version needs Fabric API alongside it.
