Golden Age Combat is a faithful recreation of Minecraft 1.8 combat for modern versions of the game. The attack cooldown is gone together with every trace of it, from the cooldown animation to the attack indicator and the tooltips, so fast spam clicking once again decides how a fight ends.
To keep that pace fair, attack damage for every weapon and tool is rebalanced close to the old values. Critical hits land while sprinting, knockback works in mid air and sends targets flying if you keep connecting, snowballs and eggs push players around again, and fishing rod hooks turn into a real weapon that deals knockback while losing far less durability. Hitboxes are inflated by ten percent on top of that, so swings register more easily.
The client side feel is restored as well. Lost hearts no longer flash, the old bow, potion and food punching animations are back, and enchanted golden apples grant the effects they used to, regeneration included. The fast saturation based health regeneration can also be reverted, although that option is disabled by default. Those rules are toggled in the configuration files, and the mod is meant for singleplayer worlds and modded servers rather than vanilla or competitive ones.
