Archeology reached Minecraft with the 1.20 Trails & Tales update, but the version in the base game only takes a small step into what the theme could be. Better Archeology picks the idea up and builds on it, adding artifacts and fossils that are genuinely worth hunting for and new structures that make digging worth the trip.
The aim throughout is to improve the mechanics from that update without losing the feel of the base game, so the new finds sit inside normal survival exploration rather than replacing it. Digging becomes a reason to travel: new structures turn up as you push into unfamiliar terrain, and each one holds something to uncover.
The mod is kept up to date with new versions and fresh content, so a long-running world keeps gaining places to excavate. Everything here targets Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, dropping into an exploration-focused setup without asking you to change how you play.
