Mining in Minecraft settles into a routine fast: the same stone, the same ore blocks, the same walk back to the furnace. Spelunkery is a cave overhaul built around three goals — reshaping material progression, filling the underground with things worth finding, and adding tools that make the trip down pay off.
Progression comes first. Ores gain variant forms, with support extending to ores added by other mods, so a sandstone cave can reveal a vein of sandstone lapis instead of the usual block. Raw materials pick up an extra processing step as well: Rough Cinnabar is polished on a grindstone to give redstone dust. Raw Diamond Blocks show up in natural generation too, sometimes right next to a lava pool.
The caves themselves pick up new landmarks and points of interest, and ore generation varies more from one place to the next, so two cave systems stop feeling interchangeable. Getting around them is easier with purpose-built gear: glowsticks in a range of colours, and rope ladders that hang down shafts and old mineshafts instead of forcing a staircase.
Moonlight needs to be installed for the mod to run, and it has been extensively tested for compatibility next to No Man’s Land and Create. This build targets NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.
