The Lost Cities turns a Minecraft world into an abandoned urban sprawl, yet a city that is meant to look modern still lights its streets with torches everywhere. Lost Cities Modern Tweaks reworks that generation from the inside out. Torches give way to lanterns, streets and highways get new designs with lamp posts running along them, and the fountains have been redrawn so they sit naturally in the new layouts.
Hundreds of building parts have been modified or added. Roofs come in more variations, parks gained new designs alongside tweaks to the existing ones, and the railway network carries far more detail than before. Multibuildings such as shopping centres and town centres have had their interiors filled out and each given its own loot tables, while a new factory multibuilding offers a wide open interior that makes a convenient starting base in tech-heavy packs. Biome-specific city styles use biome tags to pick desert, jungle and snowy variants, so they line up with biome mods that tag their own additions correctly.
Everything is built from vanilla blocks, so no extra mods are needed and the cities still look like they belong in the game. Most of the changes are aesthetic and leave the balance of the base mod intact, and the loot tables stay balanced against vanilla while living in plain files that pack makers can edit or override. The tweaks sit under their own namespace and replace only three of the base worldstyle and citystyle files, which keeps clashes with other Lost Cities packs to a minimum.
Two install routes are offered from the same content. The mod version enables the tweaks for every world at once, while the datapack version can be dropped into a single save when you only want the modern look there. World generation speed is unaffected in testing, since nothing here relies on command execution, and the pack works with the default Lost Cities profiles as long as city generation is switched on.
