Shoulder Surfing Reloaded rebuilds the Minecraft third person view into a highly configurable over-the-shoulder camera. Instead of a view locked directly behind the player, the camera sits to one side, so you can see what you are interacting with while staying in third person.
The camera is decoupled from movement, which means you can strafe left and right without dragging the mouse around, and free look on left alt by default lets you keep walking in one direction while looking in a different one. Arrow keys along with page up and page down move the camera, and the O key switches shoulders. Crosshair placement is corrected when an adaptive or dynamic crosshair is in use, and the player model fades to transparent when the view is obstructed.
The third person experience can be customized with many configuration options, and the mod is client side only, so no server mods are required to use it online. A plugin API is available for developers who want custom camera behaviours and compatibility features without invasive mixins. One caveat worth knowing: because the mod modifies camera position and player movement, it can be an issue on servers with strict anti-cheat.
