YUNG’s Better Mineshafts gives abandoned mineshafts a complete overhaul, trading the predictable straight corridors of the vanilla game for sprawling, varied networks of tunnels. Exploring one means following branching passages and doubling back through junctions instead of walking a single corridor to its end.
Thirteen biome variants change how a mineshaft looks depending on where it generates, including a rare mushroom version. Abandoned workstations are common and workstation cellars turn up less often, abandoned miners’ outposts are rare, and very rare surface openings let a mineshaft break out into the open world. Loot is tucked away in the corners of the workstations, and some of it waits in plain sight in chests on minecarts.
A number of tunnels dead-end in ore deposits carrying coal, iron, redstone, gold, lapis and emerald, with diamond appearing only very rarely, so digging all the way to the end of a passage can pay off. The mod is intended to be fully compatible with every worldgen mod, including the other YUNG structure mods such as Better Strongholds, Better Dungeons, Extras and Bridges, and it needs YUNG’s API installed alongside it.
