Vanilla rivers tend to look the same wherever they cut through the world, which makes them something you cross rather than something you follow. River Redux reworks that generation and gives Minecraft’s waterways more variety, so a river becomes a route worth travelling instead of an obstacle.
Three biomes make up the current line-up: a sandy river, a gravelly one and a tropical one, and further river biomes are planned. The added variety is aimed squarely at exploration, because one stretch of water no longer has to look like the last one.
Terrablender is required for the new river biomes to be generated. In multiplayer the mod is only needed on the server side, so a whole group can see the reworked rivers without every player changing their setup. The Fabric build targets Minecraft 1.21.1.
