Basic Weapons complements the vanilla sword, axe and spear with six new melee weapon types, each crafted in the same tiers as your regular tools. Daggers, clubs, hammers, pikes, quarterstaves and glaives all follow the visual language of the base game, so they slot into an otherwise vanilla Minecraft world without looking out of place.
Every weapon is tuned around a clear set of trade-offs: damage, attack speed, crafting cost, attack reach and a baseline effect. Daggers strike quickly for little damage, clubs hit hard and slow their target, hammers swing very slowly but knock enemies upwards, pikes keep medium damage and speed while reaching much further than the rest, quarterstaves sweep at high reach with low damage, and glaives pair heavy sweeping hits with a very slow swing.
The mod is built to be extended rather than closed off. Material packs let you add weapons made from materials introduced by other mods, and Bronze is supported out of the box, adding bronze and tin weapons as soon as both mods are present. With Better Combat installed the set goes further: the weapons are also balanced around how many enemies each swing hits and how they behave in combos, quarterstaves gain new attack combos, daggers and clubs can be dual wielded, and the hammer gets a custom attack animation.
