Musket Mod brings black powder to Minecraft with a small arsenal of craftable flintlock weapons. The right mouse button loads and fires them, full sized guns cannot be used from the offhand, and paper cartridges serve as ammunition for the whole set. Dispensers can fire those cartridges as well, dealing 10 damage on their own.
Each weapon fills a different role. The plain musket deals 16 damage over 250 durability and accepts Knockback, while the scoped version drops to 150 durability in exchange for a 3x zoom with greatly improved accuracy and reduced bullet drop, aimed with the right mouse button and fired with the left. The blunderbuss throws 9 pellets for 21 damage with a far wider spread, the pistol deals 12 damage and can be fired from either hand or both at once, and a bayonet variant adds 5 melee damage together with melee enchantments. Upgraded muskets call for a Musket Upgrade smithing template, most often found in strongholds and woodland mansions and more rarely in other overworld structures.
The mod also pays attention to how the shots behave. Headshots add 30 percent bullet damage against most bipedal mobs, bullets can ignite TNT and break some blocks with non stained glass panes as the default, and guns are unusable in water while shots that travel through it lose power. Pillagers and skeletons of every kind can use the guns too, with roughly one in five pillagers spawning with a pistol and one in twenty skeletons with a musket, dealing half damage by default. Bullet spread follows a normal distribution and, like the rest of the settings, can be adjusted from the mods menu on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
