Dying deep underground is bad enough without a countdown attached. Loyal Items is a small Minecraft data pack that keeps the items you dropped on death from disappearing, so the pile is still there whether you make it back in two minutes or twenty.
The pack is deliberately quiet about it. There are no ticking functions and no loading functions behind the scenes, so it does not affect performance by itself, and taking it out again leaves no consequences in your world.
If you would rather see it working, a single tag command turns on feedback that reports how many items were protected. Those drops also carry their own item tag, which lets any mod, plugin or data pack that automatically clears dropped items leave them untouched. It runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt on Minecraft 1.14.4.
