Ranged weapons are one of the few parts of Minecraft where the item in your hand has little say in the damage it deals. Projectile Damage Attribute takes care of that at the root: it adds a new entity attribute to the game under the id projectile_damage:generic, which is what makes the damage of individual bow and crossbow items customisable in the first place.
On top of the attribute sits an Impact status effect, which raises the projectile damage dealt by the entity carrying it. It behaves like any other status effect and can be granted directly with a command, for example /effect give @p projectile_damage:impact 30 4, so a temporary archery buff is a single line away.
For anyone building their own content, the mod doubles as a library, since it exposes an API for setting the damage of custom ranged weapons. Server-side settings live in a configuration file that appears in the config directory the first time the game runs with the mod installed, and the mod has to be present on both the client and the server. This build targets Fabric on Minecraft 1.20.x, needs Fabric API, and weighs only 0.10 MB.
