Biome Stats is about as focused as a Minecraft mod gets. It adds a single item, the Biome Thermometer, and that item answers one question. Right-click the ground with it and the game tells you what kind of place you are standing in.
The reading covers three values: the name of the biome, its temperature, and its humidity, which is also called the rainfall value. One detail is worth remembering while you use it. The thermometer always reports the biome you are in, not the biome of whichever block you happen to click on, so walk to the spot you actually want to measure before taking the reading.
The crafting recipe is built around glass panes, and because those panes go through the ore dictionary, versions from other mods work in it just as well as vanilla ones. The mod dates back to December 2015 and is no longer being developed, but on a 1.7.10 setup it still does its one job and takes up almost no space.
