Beans Backpacks rebuilds storage around one new piece of the inventory screen: the Back Slot. Equip a backpack there and it appears on your character’s back where other players can see it, and from that point items go in and out by clicking directly onto the pack rather than through a separate window. A backpack that still holds items cannot simply be pulled off, so it is set down in the world with a sprint and a right click, opened for a proper look, then picked back up the same way.
The range of packs covers looks as much as function. Leather backpacks take dye in any colour just like armour, metal ones can be trimmed at a smithing table or pushed through an upgrade template into a bigger fireproof netherite version, and Ender Backpacks carry a global inventory tied to the player who crafted or trimmed them, so a spare copy handed to a friend becomes a shared channel between you. Winged Backpacks settle the usual conflict with the elytra by leaving it usable while worn, and decorated pots and cauldrons count as wearables too, a pot holding 128 stacks of one item and a cauldron 24 buckets of fluid, though both are heavy enough that they have to be emptied before they come off.
Dying is handled gently, since your items stay where you fell inside a backpack dropped at your feet, while pots and cauldrons drop as items that only go back into an empty Back Slot. Automation is covered as well: hoppers and comparators feed and read backpacks for loaders and contraptions, and an Ender Backpack doubles as a long range delivery line back to base. If the built in selection still is not enough, data and resource packs can define entirely new backpacks with properties of your own, and datapacks can also blacklist items from a backpack inventory or stop certain items from using the Back Slot on Minecraft 1.20.x.
