Cosmopolitan is built around one idea: food should be varied, and it should talk to the rest of your modpack. New ingredients such as wildberry, fiddlehead, wheatgrass and birch sap are all obtained from blocks that already exist in the vanilla world, so the extra cooking options slot into a normal survival routine.
Ice cream gets a system of its own. Cones, ice cream sandwiches and several ice cream block variants are added, ice cream can be handled as a fluid so it fits into Create recipes, and the Frozen Dessert Tub is a dedicated block for storing ice cream and crafting with it in a more immersive fashion. Alongside the desserts come new dishes built around the fresh ingredients and four seasonal drinks that hand out beneficial status effects when Serene Seasons is installed and you drink them in their matching season.
Flavor effects are the other half of the mod. Apple, carrot and glow berries receive a redesigned effect, while Blisterberry and Droopfruit from the Undergarden are reworked so their benefits go further inside that dimension. Berries from various other mods are improved in a Berry Good style, and smaller touches such as renewable slime candy and advanced milk alternatives round out the package.
The mod is playable entirely on its own, but its content becomes much richer next to compatible mods, so a heavily modded 1.20.x pack on Forge or NeoForge gets the most out of it. It is still an early version, so backing up a world beforehand is a sensible precaution.
