A surprising number of consumables in Minecraft hand out status effects when eaten, and the game never lists them anywhere. That gap turns into a real problem in a modded world, where dozens of unfamiliar dishes sit in the inventory with no indication of what they actually do. Food Effect Tooltips closes it by writing every effect straight into the item’s tooltip, so hovering over a food item is enough to know what it will do to your character before you take a bite.
The tooltips go further than a plain effect list. Effects that only trigger with a percentage chance are marked as such instead of being presented as guaranteed, and the stat changes attached to an effect are spelled out as well. Items that remove effects rather than grant them, such as Milk, are covered too, along with consumables that teleport you like the Chorus Fruit, with Mushroom Stew and Suspicious Stew, and with items that fire on death such as the Totem of Undying.
The mod works by reading the components of whatever item you are hovering over, parsing that raw data and turning it into readable lines, which is why it also covers consumables added by other mods. It is fully client side and sits comfortably next to other food information mods such as AppleSkin, so it can be dropped into an existing setup as a pure quality-of-life layer.
