Ranged Weapon API is a library aimed at mod developers rather than at players directly. Adding a working bow or crossbow to Minecraft by hand means handling charge mechanics, projectile behaviour, model states and camera work, and this API wraps all of that so a new ranged weapon can be created with ease.
Weapon properties are set when the weapon itself is defined. Damage and pull time are customizable, and projectile velocity can optionally be customized as well, which makes it straightforward to build anything from a light, fast bow to a slow, heavy crossbow without rewriting the underlying shooting logic each time.
Presentation is covered too. Item model predicates are registered automatically and match the ones vanilla uses, so a custom bow animates through its pulling stages the way the original does. First and third person rendering are handled correctly, and the pull field of view behaves the way players expect it to. This NeoForge build targets Minecraft 1.21.1 and is a small 0.15 MB dependency, the kind of library that sits quietly behind the weapon mods that rely on it.
