In the default first-person view your armor is never shown, which can leave your character feeling disconnected from the gear you are actually wearing. I See My Armored Hand closes that gap by drawing the equipped armor onto the hand you look at all day, so your set stays visible while you explore, fight mobs or simply admire what you are wearing.
Everything the armor system can display is carried across. Armor trims are rendered on the hand, colored armor keeps its color, and enchanted gear shows its glint. The rendering is not limited to the vanilla sets either, so modded armor from the rest of your pack is treated the same way.
The mod stays deliberately small. It changes how your armor is drawn and nothing else, with no noticeable impact on performance, which makes it an easy addition to a heavy Minecraft 1.21.1 modpack that is already close to its budget.
