Spartan Weaponry answers a familiar complaint about Minecraft combat: the vanilla game hands you one sword and one axe and calls it a weapon set. This mod builds a full arsenal instead, with bladed weapons like the longsword, greatsword, katana, saber and rapier, blunt options such as the quarterstaff, club, battle hammer, warhammer and cestus, and polearms covering the spear, halberd, pike and lance, joined by later additions like the glaive, battleaxe and mace.
The point is not raw damage but variety in how each weapon fights. Traits decide the outcome: Reach lets a longer weapon strike from further away, Sweep spreads damage across everything caught in the swing, Two-Handed punishes you for filling your offhand, Armour Piercing ignores half of an enemy’s protection, Shield Breach can knock a shield out of use and Quick Strike shortens hurt resistance so fast weapons land far more hits.
Ranged and thrown combat is expanded just as much. The longbow trades draw speed for range and damage, the heavy crossbow reaches further still and fires iron or diamond bolts that can be tipped, and daggers, throwing knives, tomahawks, javelins and a returning boomerang can all be launched at foes. Quivers in light, medium and heavy sizes carry the ammunition and pass it to the player automatically whenever a bow or crossbow is equipped.
Most weapons can be made from the five vanilla tool materials once you have crafted a handle or a pole, and support for modded metals such as copper, tin, bronze, steel, silver, invar, platinum, electrum, nickel and lead keeps the arsenal relevant in a larger modpack. Explosive charges turn ordinary arrows into explosive arrows or become dynamite for a short-range blast, and nine new enchantments tune throwing speed, damage, ammo capacity and aiming.
