In vanilla Minecraft, saddles and horse armour are not craftable at all, so riding gear is something you have to come across rather than make. Craftable Horse Armour & Saddle removes that bottleneck by adding proper crafting recipes for both, turning horse gear into something you can plan and build at the crafting bench.
The result is a mod that changes very little on the surface but a lot in practice. Horses stop being a lucky find and become a normal part of progression, which matters most on survival worlds and servers where players want mounts early. Because the mod is built around recipes, the download stays tiny.
Support is unusually broad for such a compact mod, covering the game from the old 1.7 releases through to 1.21, with Forge available across the whole range, Fabric from 1.14 onward and NeoForge on 1.20 and 1.21. Only 1.13 sits outside that list. This particular build targets Minecraft 1.8.9 on Forge.
