Accessories is a data-driven accessory framework for Minecraft that hands players extra equipment slots beyond the vanilla armour set, and hands modders a common API to fill them. It is built for both Fabric and NeoForge, and keeps as much of that API shared between the two platforms as possible so an accessory written once behaves the same on either side.
Out of the box you can equip a banner in the head slot to display a custom design, with a cape slot still in development. Elytra and totem slots ship with the mod as well, disabled by default and switched on in the configuration by anyone who wants them. Because the older Curios and Trinkets APIs are already widespread, a separate compatibility layer can be installed so accessories built for those systems run under Accessories for one unified experience.
Equipped accessories are not limited to the player. Holding shift and using the accessories screen control on an entity you own opens its accessory inventory, which lets other mods create items for pets and mounts, and gives server owners a way to manage another player’s accessories without direct management commands. An operator command does the same job from the console.
For developers the mod ships a transformation API that links accessory rendering to specific entity model parts, which is what makes EMF resource packs such as Fresh Animations line up correctly. On top of that come full NBT-based accessory support, a unique slot API for mod-specific slots, and ready-made events covering piglin neutral items, enderman masks, looting and fortune adjustments and snow walking.
