Iron Chests is one of the classic answers to the storage problem in Minecraft. Alongside the plain wooden container, it adds chests made from the various metals already present in the vanilla game, and their sizes vary from one metal to the next.
Because the chests are tied to metals you are already mining and smelting in a normal world, no unfamiliar materials have to be introduced to expand a storage room. You simply pick the chest whose size suits what that corner of the base has to hold, which keeps things easier to organize as a world grows.
From the 1.13 releases onward the custom shulker boxes live in a separate mod of their own, so this one stays focused purely on chests. The project is open source and may be used in any modpack.
