Biomancy is a biopunk take on tech-magic in Minecraft, and everything it brings to the game shares one fleshy, organic art theme. It sits between a magic mod and a technology mod, which gives it a visual identity of its own next to the usual machines and spell books.
There is no guide book. Progression is described through advancements and item tooltips instead, so working things out as you go is part of the mod, and a recipe viewer such as JEI is the quickest way to see how a given piece is put together.
Compatibility is a real part of the design. Enchantment Descriptions, Alex’s Mobs and Pehkui are supported, the Digester takes any food you feed it, Raw Meat from Farmer’s Delight is accepted, and the Flesh Door and the Iris Door keep working when they ride Create contraptions and trains. Separate add-on mods build on top of it for packs that want even more of this content.
