Agenta is a compatibility layer for ancient Minecraft clients. It steps in front of the authentication and asset requests those builds still try to make, so skins and capes render again on anything before 1.7.10, sound works on releases that predate 1.6, and the game stops choking on endpoints that disappeared years ago.
The same build covers a wide slice of the game’s history. It has been tested from Alpha 1.0.4 up to release 1.7.10 and runs as a regular mod under Forge, Bukkit and Risugami’s ModLoader, as a Java agent attached to the JVM, as an inline launcher that hands control on to the game’s own main class, or as a plugin on a Bukkit server. Fabric-based loaders are covered as well and NilLoader can pick it up, while LiteLoader enforces its own compatibility checks and stays out of reach.
A set of optional properties tunes the behaviour without touching the code. Asset and resource lookups can point at a different server, legacy Forge library downloads can be forwarded to an archive, the save file used by the oldest builds can be renamed, and coloured console output or debug logging can be switched off. The skin pipeline is adjustable in the same way, from resizing and layer flattening down to whether lookups are cached.
