In vanilla Minecraft a drawn bow renders a plain arrow whatever is actually nocked. Real Arrow Tip ends that mismatch, so the projectile shown on the weapon is the one that will be fired. Tipped arrows carry their potion colour on the tip, spectral arrows are drawn as spectral arrows, and the crossbow follows exactly the same rule.
Crossbows cover multishot as well, showing on the weapon itself when the enchantment has loaded it, so a glance is enough to confirm the shot is charged as expected. The arrow entity in flight is handled too and keeps the coloured tip of a tipped arrow, which makes a shot easy to identify while it is still in the air.
This is a display fix rather than a gameplay change, so nothing is rebalanced and the mod stays a very light addition to a load order. Resource packs made with support for it work together with the correct arrow rendering, so a more detailed bow model and a truthful arrow tip can sit in the same setup.
