More Axolotl Variants API is a small library mod for Minecraft that solves one specific problem. Several mods want to add their own axolotl variants, and without a shared system they can end up clashing. The API gives them a single place to register variants, so multiple axolotl packs can run side by side and all of their variants keep working.
On its own the library adds no new axolotls. What it does add is polish for the ones you already have: axolotl buckets can use item models that match modded variants, the vanilla bucket textures are redrawn so each one matches the axolotl inside, and a tooltip on the bucket lists the axolotl’s age, its variant and the mod that provides it.
Variants are also easier to handle in commands. Axolotls can be summoned with a namespaced string as the variant value, the same naming scheme the rest of the game uses almost everywhere else. A vanilla variant and one from another mod are requested in exactly the same way, which makes map making and server setups more predictable.
