The Hordes turns ordinary Minecraft nights into sieges. On the nights you pick in the config, groups of monsters gather in the dark and press toward your base in waves that run from midnight until morning. Both the mobs that can show up and the hours they arrive are adjustable, so a hardcore world and a relaxed one can end up facing very different invasions.
Surviving until sunrise is only half the problem, because zombies now leave more than damage behind. With infection enabled, a hit from a zombie can infect players and horses, and five minutes later, or the moment they die while infected, they turn. A golden apple clears it with the default settings, the cure can be swapped for any item that can be consumed, and an optional rule that is on by default extends the infection to villagers so zombie villagers stay beyond saving.
When an infected player finally turns, a zombified version of them spawns on the spot holding every item they carried, or a drowned version if it happens underwater. These zombie players ignore sunlight unless you disable that, and further options can zombify mobs from other mods where a matching zombie exists, load custom textures for those variants, make zombie horses hostile and stop undead from burning in daylight. This build targets Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge.
