Cobblemon’s Pokedex scanner covers the basics; Better Pokedex Scanner turns it into a proper field instrument. Scans are laid out more clearly, carry more information and handle variants properly, while the styling stays close to the core Cobblemon feel, so it reads as an upgrade rather than a replacement. Cobblemon itself is required, and while a client side install is enough in singleplayer, multiplayer shows the full picture only when the server has the mod too.
On the Pokemon side, a scan resolves forms, regional variants, aspects, shiny state and gender correctly, and a Pokemon with several aspects is carouselled through the same label position. Types are labelled and colour coded, and levels are coloured against your current party range, so anything above it trends warm while anything below trends green, with contained Pokemon using a blue high level indicator. Placed pokeballs can be read for IVs, nature and ability when the Occupied Pokeballs mod is present, and fossil restoration tanks show the Pokemon inside along with how far the restoration has come. In both cases a species you have never seen is registered on the spot.
The scanner also points outward at the world. It reports biome, dimension, weather, time of day, moon phase, sky visibility, sky light and block light, terrain context such as underwater, on water, surface, underground, cave or high altitude, and which structures are nearby, which is exactly the readout that matters when you are chasing a specific spawn. Beehives and bee nests give honey level, flower and sedation state where applicable, inhabitant counts, Combee presence and rare individuals such as a shiny or female Combee, Slowpoke get a tail regrowth check, and ordinary entities are covered too with colour aware displays for dye states, horse, llama, cat, rabbit and axolotl variants and armour stand equipment materials. A short term cache means briefly losing focus does not always force a full rescan.
Many of the labels the scanner prints can be rewritten from a resource pack. One set of JSON files handles Cobblemon forms and aspects, another handles accessor values on non Pokemon entities, and each label can be plain text, a translation key, styled parts or a styled translated template with arguments, with styled displays taking priority over translation keys and those over literal labels. Renaming, localising or recolouring a label is a pack edit rather than a code change.
